How to Change Your Name in Free Fire
The steps are the same on every phone. Make sure you have 390 diamonds or a Name Change Card first, because the game asks you to pay on the last screen.
- Open Free Fire and wait for the lobby to load.
- Tap your avatar at the top left to open your profile.
- Tap the small edit icon next to your nickname. A box called Change Nickname opens.
- Clear the old name and type or paste your new name.
- Tap the button with 390 diamonds, or the Confirm button with the card icon if you have a Name Change Card.
- Your new name shows at once on your profile and in your next match.
Your name is part of your ID profile, but it is not your UID. The UID is the number of your account, and it stays the same after a rename. So your friends, level and items all stay with you.

Free Fire MAX uses the same account and data as Free Fire. So a name change in one game also changes it in the other, and you only pay once. We checked the name rules in MAX too, and they match: 3 to 12 characters.
How to Change Your Free Fire Name on PC
There is no official Free Fire game for Windows. Players on a computer use an Android emulator like BlueStacks or MSI App Player. The rename should work the same way inside the emulator, but we did not test an emulator ourselves: open your profile, click the edit icon, type the name and pay. If you want a styled name, copy it on your PC and paste it into the name box with Ctrl + V.
Is There an App for a Free Fire Name Change?
No. You can only rename inside the game. Apps or sites that promise a free rename, free diamonds or a free card, and ask for your login, are fake. They can steal your account. A name style app or site, like our generator, is safe because it only makes text that you copy and paste yourself.

One popular guide says a rename costs 800 diamonds. We did not see that price. The box on our account showed 390. Also good to know: the game checks your new name before it takes any diamonds. If the name is too long or blocked, you do not lose anything.

The Name Change Card is an item that lets you rename once without paying diamonds. Each card works one time only. In the Change Nickname box it sits on the right, as the Confirm button with the card icon.
How to Get a Name Change Card
Garena does not list a fixed way to get one. Players report that cards have come from events, top up rewards, login rewards and the Guild Token exchange in the Store. Many guides say the exchange costs 200 Guild Tokens plus a few diamonds, but we could not confirm the price in 2026. Check the event page and the Store after each update.
How to Use a Name Change Card
Open your profile, tap the edit icon and type your new name. Then tap Confirm, the button with the card icon. The game uses the card instead of diamonds, and your new name is saved.
Can You Change Your Free Fire Name for Free?
Only with a Name Change Card. The Change Nickname box only offers diamonds or a card, so the free way is to collect a card from an event or reward, then use it. Do not trust any site that says it can change your name for free with a hack or a code.
Rules for Your New Free Fire Name
Before you register a new name, check it against these rules. We tested each one in the game.
- Length: 3 to 12 characters. Two letters is too short, and 13 is too long.
- Symbols and fonts: most symbols work, but some, like ×͜×, count as three characters. Bold, italic, script and gothic letters are blocked.
- Spaces: the game keyboard will not type a space. A pasted invisible space (Hangul Filler, U+3164) works instead.
- Clean and unique: rude names can be reset by Garena, and nobody else can have the same name.
